Short-wave communication combines advantages of distant communication,mobility, tactics, easy networking, low cost and survivability, etc. Moreover, it isregarded as an important means of communication in the following areas such asnational defense, military, aviation, navigation, meteorology, forest protection, floodcontrol and so forth. With the development of IC technology, short-wave digitalcommunication is booming as well. However, compatibility of monitoring software forshort-wave modem generally has its weakness, which requires severe operatingenvironment.By means of Visual Studio6SP1and other technologies, the paper designs andimplements a short-wave single-side band(SSB) monitoring software for digital modem.A coding scheme for file transfer is also formulated. The design achievesman-machine interactive process. And its function mainly includes: interface module,system setup, serial port operation, module sending and receiving, etc.The experiment has shown that the system is stable and convenient in operationwith compatibility. What’s more, it has fewer requirements in operating environment,which meets the design requirements.
