With the rapid development of the fourth generation mobile communication technology,4G network has been into the commercial stage in the United States, Japan, Europe and other countries. The terminal equipment which is applied to the network will be updated constantly. As2G,3G and4G will coexist for a long time, the3G/4G multi-mode terminals will be an important mobile terminal product in the future.Based on the3G/4G system interoperability of the3GPP standard, this thesis shows comprehensive description and related illustrations on EPC network structure, relevant network elements, control surfaces and users face operation, EPC logic functions, safety, standard management and QoS. However, the principle analysis of paging procedure. RRC connection and typical handover process is also presented in this thesis.With the LTE data card project in which I has participated in the company, I have a large number of tests on the3G/4G system interoperability of the data card and take the detailed analysis on the performance data. In general, we give the relatively complete implementation for the terminal interoperability. Due to the technical limitation of existing terminal chip, this data card also needs to be further improved so that it can be put into communication product market.
