As a large number of high-technology was widely used in the military arena, a newcampaign mode emerged, this was tactical data link. Tactical data link connects thecommand control center, combat troops and weapons platform on the battle field. It is asystem that has the ability of information acquisition, information processing, messageexchange and information distribution.Navy data link is a significant branch of tactical data link. Navy data link is a kindof connection that was set up between surface ship, submarine, early warning plane,carrier-based planes and roadbed command center. In the1950s, US Navy started todevelop the data link, then the navy data link developed rapidly. Now, many country’snavies have been equipped with many kinds of data link.Depending on the application scenarios and network structure of the navy data link,the paper researched the major technology of the navy data link, these technologiescontain antenna technology of physical layer, TDMA access protocol of data link layer,the network initialization plan and enter/quit plan of network layer. The majorinnovative point of this paper is a new kind of TDMA access protocol, called thedirectional three-phase reservation protocol, D-TPRP. This new protocol combines thedirectional antenna technology and the traditional FPRP protocol. At last, modeled andsimulated the navy data link network using the OPNET network simulation softwareand analyzed the simulation results, the results provided basis for the theory research.
