Intra Flight Data Link (IFDL) is a new airline-specific data link.Its basic functions are providing a convert communication for the tactical aircraft with an anti-jamming and high-speed mean, compositing a self-organized network with low latency time, and exchanging instant enemy-posture, the machine-status of friends, arms control parameters and other information. IFDL is a complex communication network which makes full use of the most advanced software radio technology, and its goal is to offer a superior connectivity for the tactical aircrafts and to significantly improve data-exchange capability, battlefield awareness, and interoperability of weapons in and among groups, so that so that there will be a qualitative leap in future fighter combat. Our nation still lacks of data link like IFDL. There is an urgent need to initiate research in this area.Intra Flight Data Link is a tactical Ad hoc network making full use of Ad hoc networking technology. Advanced Software Radio Technology and directional antenna technology are adopted in physical layer.The protocol of access and route are studied in this paper under airborne high-speed mobile environmen.At first this paper introduces the concept of IFDL, characteristics and core issues. Upon this basis, the networking overview of IFDL is proposed. And then time slot allocation algorithms and routing protocols based on directional antenna are designed for IFDL. At last performance of the network is simulated with OPNET.
