The research works are made with scientific projects. The design methods of theairborne antennas and the microstrip arrays conformal to bomb shell are discussed inthis thesis. The major works done can be divided into three parts: the engineeringsamples of the airborne UHF-band communication antennas are made in the first part,and the engineering samples of the airborne C-band altimeter antenna are proposed inthe second part, then the engineering samples of conformal array on bomb shell aremade in the last part. The main contents are summarized as follows:Firstly, the project requirements of the airborne UHF-band communicationantennas are illustrated. In order to satisfy the requirements, the design method withtheories of monopole antenna is given, which employs printed monopole antenna(PMA). On this basis, the prototype of this antenna is fabricated and measured. Themeasured results show that for the designed antenna the VSWR is less than1.6, thegain is greater than2dB, and the H-plane is of omnidirectional radiation characteristics.The measured results are agreed well with the simulated ones, which indicate that thedesign method is available and valid.Secondly, the design method of the airborne C-band altimeter antenna is proposed,which employs2×2microstrip array. Using the software Ansoft HFSS, the analyticmodel is simulated. According to the measured results, the antenna can operate wellwith VSWR<2.0, gian>3dB, and50°beamwidth. Such that, the designed antennameets the project requirements, and can be applied in engineering.Finally, the design method with theories of microstrip conformal array is discussed.The engineering prototypes of the conformal array are fabricated and measured. Themeasured results show that the designed antenna can obtain omnidirectional radiationcharacteristics in H plane. Therefore, it is available for this design method to beapplied in engineering.
