Digital beamforming (DBF) technology is to form a high quality required beamby weighting the gain and phase of a receiving signal with digital method. Taking theDBF technology as the core, digital array radar (DAR) has many advantages such asaccurate and flexible beam control, highly integrated system, strong anti-jammingability, software control and so on. And it is one of the main directions of thedevelopment of modern radar.In this article, a receiving and transmitting array signal model is built, then thegeneral receiving and transmitting DBF and the adaptive DBF algorithm are analyzedand simulated; three common array error models are built to deeply analyze theinfluence on DBF performance by the array errors, especially the error of digitaltransmitter/receiver (T/R) modules; several algorithms of gain and phase errorcalibration are simulated and verified; two kinds of direct digital synthesis (DDS)technologies are compared in detail, and the radar transmitting waveform is designedand generated based on direct digital frequency synthesis (DDFS) technology. We takea comprehensive basic research on digital beamforming in this article. A solidfoundation is laid on the posterior research and engineering realization.
