Graphics as a key element in mobile value-added service is becomes more andmore useful, but the memory space occupied by the graphics resources and thegraphics processing speed of the mobile devices is a very difficult issue. So how toreduce the menory occupancy and increase the processing speed is a hotspot in mobilebusiness development. BREW is proposed by the QUALCOMM company of theUnited States, is one of the most popular wireless platform which is used for executingapplication software on mobile terminals device,it is the common interface platformfor wireless data applications development and implenentation.This thesis first analyzes and study the graphics image format in BREW, andthen gives the tile graphics technology focus on the problem of too much memoryoccupancy in traditional graphics processing methods. This technology mainlyincludes three parts: first divides the large graphics which takes up lots of memory intotile graphics of same specifications by image segmentation algorithm, after mergeringthe same parts then loads the tiles, and then mosaics the different tiles in a specificmanner to form the desired graphics, and finally displays the mosaic graphics with theimage rendering algorithm of the tile graphics. Based on the previous study of graphicsprocessing techniques, this thesis completes a mobilephone application development,and then tests the program. Through the result of the testing can obtain that in theBREW application development, the tile graphics method can reduce the memoryoccupancy and the average screen refresh time.From the theoretical analysis and the comparison of the test results can obtain thatthe graphics processing method proposed by this paper can reduce the memory spaceoccupied by graphics resources and is efficient in improving the speed of mobilegraphics processing.
