Most of Fixed-Income companies in Wall Street, including Fixed-Income department of Citi Group, built their systems on Java platform. Because of the limitations of Java GUI application, for example the development efficiency of is very limited, performance is not high, user experience is not good, the banks are willing to rebuild the applications on.NET platform which can gives user better experience. In order to make the new application be compatible with lots of legacy systems, cut down the cost of development, improve the productivity, Fixed-Income department of Citi Group decided to adopt ⅡOP.NET (interoperation between.NET and Java through HOP protocol) and EMS (TIBCO Enterprise Message Service) for communication between.NET GUI clients and EJB servers, so systems can be development efficiently on both server and client side, and legacy EJB servers can be reused as many as possible, the development cycle were shorten. At first the current situation of Fixed-Income e-trading systems is discussed, the advantages of.NET and J2EE platforms are analyzed, then the architecture of.NET GUI and J2EE server connected by ⅡOP.NET and EMS is demonstrated, the advantage of ⅡOP.NET and EMS in such a architecture is explained. Then how to apply ⅡOP.NET and EMS in such a software architecture is presented, including invocation of distributed services across platforms by ⅡOP.NET, data serialization and deserialization, delivering of EMS messages. At the end, the system designed is recapped, and the defects of the system and how to improve the system are discussed.
