With the development of enterprises’information technology, the relationship between information technology and enterprises’work process is more and more closely. IT has become an indispensable part of the development of modern enterprises. With companies’business depended more and more on information technology, companies have invested a lot of labor power, physical resources and money into IT infrastructure. However, the benefits from these investments have not increased obviously. Sometimes, the benefits even go declining. At this time people realize the effective management of IT service is the best way to achieve the informatization of enterprises. As an important approach to improving IT management, IT Service Management has been acknowledged by many Chinese and foreign enterprises. ITIL, the best practice of IT Service Management which is origin from England, has in essence become an international criterion of IT Service Management. Through combining work process, people and information technology to optimize the IT service process, ITIL improves customer satisfaction and IT service management, helps enterprises save IT service costs and improves economic profit. As a result, more and more enterprises focus on how to implement ITIL efficiently when they build their IT services, so as to achieve the best practical effect of IT service management.Through the introduction of the concept of IT service management and the combination with the problems faced by Company A in IT service management, this paper is to explain the necessity to implant ITIL, how to solve the problems and improve the competitiveness and productivity of modern enterprises. Firstly, this dissertation expounds the definition of IT service management, the core concepts, its value and its scope of application, including its commercial value and the relationship between core process and modules. Secondly, it is to illustrate the way to implement IT service management, the practical effect in combination with the specific cases of Company A, and the points needed to be mentioned in implementing IT service management. Finally, enlightened by analyzing the practical effect in domestic areas, we hope Chinese modern enterprises can find a good reference and achieve better IT service management, and some valuable reference can be offered to the development of ITIL in the field of IT service management.
