With the maturity of the structural topology optimization theory and methods, this technique has become a powerful tool for engineers to achieve innovative conceptual design. Therefore, structural topology optimization modules have been successively integrated into various commercial CAE softwares in recent years. But with the diversification of the performance requirements of engineering structures and the complication of structural design, commercial optimization software are facing difficulties in solving engineering problems. However the limitations of APIs and function extensibility of commercial softwares, hinder researchers to perform in-depth investigations in related fields of topology optimization on these platforms. At the same time, the commercial software also restrict the application of the latest research achievements to the practical engineering in time because of their own technical privacy and time lag of develoment.This paper developes SiPESC.TOPO, which is a structural topology optimization system with good open-ability and extendibility. and can supports collaborative development involving multi-user or multi-organization. Based on the open design framework of SiPESC platform, this paper mainly proposes the design pattern of "algorithm+mode", the factory method, and the open structure topology optimization software framework. In order to meet the requirements of complexity and diversity of the structural topology optimization design, the topology interpolation model. the filter model and the optimization algorithm model are implemented which realizes the dynamic selection and replacement of numerical algorithms. As for the computational efficiency of the element neighbourhood makes the greate effects on the optimization efficiency, a new algorithm based on the element-node mapping method is developed which has high efficiency, low space complexity and general purpose. Therefore SiPESC.TOPO has advantages when dealing with the optimization problem of the large-scale and built-up structure and the space shell structure. Meanwhile. SiPESC.FEMS is able to analyze complex engineering problems:the embedded engineering database management system is able to help users to perform new development:SiPESC provide multiple software techniques to integrate third party software:therefore SiPESC.TOPO is able to integrate and promote the latest research results in the practical engineering in time. This paper has verified the accuracy and applicability of the SiPESC.TOPO by the test examples and the engineering examples, which show that SiPESC.TOPO has advantages over other software in software openness, extensibility and engineering applicability.The research of this dissertation was partially supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (11072050,51021140004,90816025). the National Basic Research Program of China (2010CB832704) and the Hi-Tech Research and Program of China (2012AA050901).
