This dissertation elaborated a brief introduction of Cesare Brandi. the Italian ideologist, art critic and specialist in conservation-restoration theory of the20th century, included the biography, the influence of his thoughts, the theory resources and the principles he lights up in his most important publication Teoria del Restauro. After that, there is also the discussion about the interaction between the theory of Cesare Brandi and the actuality of Chinese conservation of the cultural heritages, focuses on the dispute and divergent ideas to Brandi’s theory in the practical field and the translation problems in the Chinese Version of Brandi’s publication. In the appendix, there adds translation of eight articles of Brandi, according to his Teoria del Restauro and the English version Theory of Restoration.
