Clutter Suppression Technology is one of the key technologies for signal processing in Radar systems. A variety of clutter and noise seriously affect the performance of Radar since the radar works in a complex environment nowadays. The radar clutter suppression technology has a very important significance because it can eliminate clutter and extract the useful signal for radar detection of moving targets. The moving target indication (MTI) and moving target detection (MTD) is two important clutter suppression technology. They are widely used in modern radar systems.First, this paper introduces the application of the background of clutter suppression techniques for pointing out that clutter suppression is important in radar systems. Radar systems often use pulse compression method, and the linear FM signal has a wider application in the emission signal of radar. So this paper introduces principle and the realization of the pulse compression signal processing. Then linear FM signal is introduced and simulated. The following two chapters discuss in detail about the MTI and MTD techniques. On the one hand, this paper details their technical advantages and disadvantages from the principle and describes its implementation. On the other hand, this paper simulated using MATLAB for different situations using the same simulation model of the pulse compression technique using a linear FM signal and the same signal and the target parameters. The simulation results are analyzed combined with theoretical. The key issues are discussed including the filtering effect of the MTI delay line canceller, the impact of the number of delay line to the performance of the filter, different design methods and the filtering effect of FFT filter which is one of the common methods of MTD, selection and design of window functions of FIR filter group (another common method of MTD) and its filtering effect, comprehensively compared the two methods. Finally, the FFT signal processor of the feedback control structure is implemented using FPGA.Pulse compression technique can solve the contradiction between the detection range and range resolution and has been widely used in radar systems. MTI typically performanced by delay line canceller. The performance of the delay line canceller can be improved by increaseing the delay line number. MTI is unable to meet the actual needs in most cases. MTD is the improvement of MTI. the main way to achieve FFT The MTD There are two methods of MTD, FFT filter and FIR filter.
