To solve the security problems of SMS for mobile phone,this paper presents a securityprotection method based on short message encryption and information hiding with PNG formatimage according to the characteristics of SMS and users. By analyzing the characteristics andapplication of encryption algorithm, encoding technology and image information hiding, weprovide an encryption and encoding model AUCC which encrypts text of short message based onAES encryption algorithm and than encoding the cipher text using UCS-2Chinese character set.Then we put forward an information hiding model PNG-RGBMLBP based on the parity of leastsignificant bit (lsb) in the RGB coefficient of a PNG format image. The AUCC model has lowerdata expansion, while the PNG-RGBMLBP model has lightweight characteristics. Based on theabove-mentioned models, we design the architecture of system that provides security transmissionfor text in the mobile phone environment with encryption and image information hiding.On the basis of this design, we achieve the design and implementation of a prototype systemthat performs security transmission for short message based on encryption, encoding and imageinformation hiding technology. The prototype system is implemented on Android platform and itsmain functions contains receiving user’s input message, realizing AES Encryption algorithm anddata encoding based on UCS-2Chinese character set, embedding and extracting data from PNGimage, sending and receiving short message. Experimental test results show that the system wepresented can effectively enhance the security and efficiency in short message transmission andhas a good practical performance.
