Dual-polarized antennas with frequency-multiplexing and polarization-diversity are widelyused in communication system. Effective isolation between the two ports of a dual-polarizedantenna has a critical role to reduce interference and improve system performance. Therefore, thelevel of isolation is an important parameter to measure the performance of a dual-polarizedantenna. This paper studies the design of the dual-polarized patch antenna technology, the goal isto explore the antenna structure which can effectively improve the isolation. The first two chapters of this paper is mainly to describe the development and the reseachprocess of Dual-polarized patch antennas, also beside the radiation mechanism, the basic structure, the form of feed and the impedance characteristics, these are the theoretical basis of the design ofDual-polarized patch antennas with high isolation.Chapters III and IV are the focus of this research work and a detailed description of thedesign process of a Dual-Polarized Patch Antenna. First three different models for the dual-polarizedpatch antenna fed by the traditional L-probe with the center frequency of915MHz is proposed, the horizontal portion of the traditional L-probe is a straight microstrip strip; following anotherthree different structures of the dual-polarized patch antenna fed by the tortuous L-probe with thesame center frequency is innovatively proposed, the traditional L-probe’s straight microstrip ischanged to be a tortuous type L-probe; then each of these six programs will be simulated andoptimized in HFSS to analyze the impedance characteristics and polarization characteristics of thetwo polarized ports, which can obtain the isolation between the two ports. At last the six modelshave been processed into contrast. The results show the effectiveness of the design and that fifthmodel’s isolation is better than38dB, which has a good value. Finally, the summary of the whole paper is given, and the far research is pointed.
