This topic comes from the project of electric power equipment manufacturing enterprises, contraryto the problem that substation high voltage equipment temperature is difficult to be manual in-spected. Therefore in this paper, trying to solve the problem, a temperature monitoring system forhigh voltage equipment based on WSN is designed.The monitoring system design includes five aspects, which are WSN node module, sensor module,power gather module, network strategy and man-machine interface. The design task of WSN nodemodule, including hardware production of nodes and related operating system test, is done by an-other research fellow. The main work of this paper is described as below:Firstly, the work of temperature sensor is concerned. Based with the demands of non-contact meas-urement application, the TS318-3infrared sensor is selected as major temperature sensor in thesensor module. With the peripheral circuit designed and temperature compensation made by soft-ware, the temperature measure requirements is achieved, but the accuracy still needs to be improved.Also due to the contact measurement demand, DS18B20and Pt100temperature sensors are selected.Specific experiments of these sensors are made and results are given.Secondly, this paper presents a collection scheme based on environmental energy. After some sim-ple evaluation of mainstream environmental energy types, three environmental energy collectionschemes are made and illustrated in detail, including design of rectifier, filter and regulator. Bycombining the energy collection chip with this design, specific circuit is made and tested. Throughthe experimental data of various schemes, corresponding effect and applicable occasions of eachscheme is given. Such environmental energy collection schemes can solve many problems arisingdue to traditional battery-powered node in the wireless sensor network.Thirdly, based on the networking scheme, different applications and Tiny Operating System areconcerned. The design and test of network topology and data aggregation scheme is made. Thenthrough the experimental data and corresponding simulation, appropriate CTP is chosen. At last,considering the temperature measure demand, the man-machine interface which includes functionslike temperature display, temperature query and historical data query is designed.The designation in this paper is for high voltage equipment temperature monitoring system which isbased on WSN. The design also provides a laboratory prototype for industrial application of thissystem.
