UWB (Ultra-Wideband) is one of the hottest technologies in the communicationarea. It does not need signal carrier but pulse with time interval less than ananosecond to run communication. It has wide frequency spectrum, calledzero-signal-carrier communication or wireless pulse communication. The technologyapplies to short-distance communication and has high transmission speed, largesystem capacity, low power loss. The communication is difficult to be intercepted, with high process gain and multi-pass resolving power. Therefore, UWB is a goodoption in indoor positioning..Thus, the wireless positioning technology based on UWB is highly practical andresearch-worthy. This paper systematically examines the technology on the basis ofnew findings on UWB and wireless positioning. Two schemes of improvement areproposed. In addition, the paper conducts simulation for the new algorithm in NLOSenvironment. However, the positioning performance seriously decreased, given thatthe NLOS signal wasn’t optimized during the estimation of positioning parameters. Itled to the long delay for receiver to collect TOA. Therefore, the wireless positioningtechnology covers many things. We can not only optimize the methods of positioningand algorithm, but also the methods of parameter estimation. Then we can resolve theNLOS’ influence on positioning and increase the accuracy of positioning. More workshould be done on this area.
