Fiber winding technique is a key technique for fiber-optic guidance. The non-standard fiber winding structure and the internal defect caused by storing will be bound to cause the fiber cut during paying-off. Therefore, it’s necessary to check the fiber winding line package before use. Depend on the background, we make a systematic design of fiber line package by testing characteristic parameters using X-ray beam.In this paper, we give a detailed expression for detection principle of X-ray first, and make some analyses and researches on the character of fiber winding line package. And designed a relevant test system, which primarily includes:fine X-ray source for detection, a support which can achieve high precision translation of the line package during the vertical movement and rotation of360degree, X-ray fluorescence detector based on photomultiplier tube, and data acquisition and processing unit. The test plan primarily makes use of X-ray to penetrate fiber line package, which can reflect the structural parameters of the fiber line package as a result of ray attenuation difference caused by layer differences.This paper carried out the multi-piont check for the scattered intensity of X-ray, which verified the security of the testing environment. The X-ray beam scanning is performed on the overall structure of guidance fiber winding line package, the test signal can completely reflect it at all. And we also do the simulation test on monolayer and single-turn fiber, the result shows the voltage change when it includes detection. The detection is performed concerning internal simulation defect of line package, This verified the practical applications of the test system. It lays foundation to the development of upcoming automatic test system.
