Intravenous infusion technology as a common clinical medical means usually needs quite a long time and the infusion is possible during day or night. The infusion situation requires constant observation, at the end of the infusion people need to pull needle, this brings heavy burden to patients, families and medical staff. Therefore realizing the infusion of automatic monitoring becomes urgent need for the clinical application. This paper is giving a droplet velocity monitoring system based on embedded system. Through the video image processing of the infusion, it can get the infusion speed information. From the information the system can make a judgment and alarm. First, the paper designs the overall structure of the droplet velocity monitoring system, then chooses the hardware platform based on embedded system and establishs the software framework. The Windows CE6.0operating system kernel customization and transplantation have been completed. In-depth analyses three kinds of moving target detection algorithm, the final determination chooses the frame difference method for infusion drop speed detection. Using Matlab simulates the speed algorithm in different drop speed and different level and tests interference by shaking the droplet velocity detection, and gives threshold through the statistics. This paper designs the digital camera driver based on USB port, realizing the image acquisition, image display and continuous photos function. The Windows CE droplet velocity program complets the video image regional orientation, video image transcoding, interframe difference detection. Alarm function and a man-machine interface are shown in this paper. On the platform of ARM, the measurement and real-time display are tested in the actual infusion and the results show that the scheme is feasible, and can meet the actual demand.
