Research On Workflow Administration And Monitoring In The YAWL Environment

Workflow Management System (WfMS) helps to streamline the operations of an organization by automatically routing work and information across people and application on the basis of business process models. During the execution of these process models the WfMS generates large amounts of data. An open research question is how to best collect and analyse these data in order to manage and monitor the operation of a WfMS. This project aims to identify the functionality a workflow administration and monitoring tool should have and to identify which data needs to be collected in order to support that functionality. The design of this tool was derived based on a survey of recent literature and commercial WfMS. An implementation of a workflow administration and monitoring tool in the YAWL (Yet Another Workflow Language) environment is discussed.
