The Structured Representation Of Conceptual Model

Traditional conceptual model plays an important role in developing progress of information management system. The traditional conceptual model is straight forward, however, lacks a comprehensive and deep description of the model concept. As the traditional conceptual model is strongly affected by human's subjective judgment, a lot of problems may arise when designing, managing or utilizing a large system. To standardize the models representation is one of the effective way to solve the above problems, also is the key point of this thesis.This thesis proposes a notion as structural model representation, which is analyzing a model from the structure point, and establishing a framework which matches the model ontology so that we can structurally describe each single element and also the relationship between these elements. This thesis introduces how XML works in processing the results of structural representation of the model as well. This means using XML to represent the structural frame of the conceptual model enable the models are easily transmitted between different systems and saved in the database. It can also contributes XML's characteristics to the representation results such as: extensibility, manipulation, and reciprocity.Based on above, the main content of the thesis is listed below: The first, a comprehensive and deep analysis of model's structure is given. At this stage, the model is divided into three levels. Then I will select the concept ontology from each level, and the ontology theory is used to analyze the basic elements of the three levels model. Next stage is using the framework to structurally represent the model. And finally, XML language is used to describe the built-up structural representation results of each conceptual framework.The important thing is, XML contributes a lot of advantages to the results of standardizing model during the process of representation the structural concept. It is conduced when managing and analyzing automation of a model, which needs further research in the future.
