Baseline Management Research Based On Product Data Management (pdm) System

Due to continuous change of market requirement and nonstop improvement of technology, the design and manufacture cycle of product are greatly reduced while the control of technical status encounters a lot of problems because of the feature of enterprise product-"small batch and multiple varieties". Under this circumstance, in order to get flexible configuration and record configuration information of product to meet the requirements of users as well as solidify and trace the technical status of product, the corresponding information measures are urgently required to record the status of each batch and guarantee the solidifying and traceability of technical status of products.Baseline is an important part of technical status management, and the main approach to achieve product technical status management. It’s also an important function of PDM, which can efficiently improve the reusability and efficiency of design, well realize the product variety management and is convenient to manage the serial product. Baseline can be used to manage all versions of all datum efficiently and stabilize contemporary technical status of product at a certain moment during life cycle of product. Because of these, the enterprise can get flexible product definition and provide users with configuration information of various types of product that users care.This paper provides comprehensive state and research of creation, throw-in, freezing and variation procedure of baseline based on PDM system. Baseline can be used to manage the technical status with further-developed PDM. It brings the enterprise with reliable guarantee for product data management and technical status control, at the same time creates considerable economic and social benefit. The paper also can be used as reference for technology and production guidance of similar enterprise.
