With more and more applications about SCADA systems becoming extensive and in-depth in the country’s critical infrastructure, such as electricity, oil extraction, transportation, processing, the SCADA system information security has become very important. At the same time, the security threats which SCADA systems face continue to increase and serious due to a variety of anthropogenic and natural factors. SCADA system security research became a hot topic of the of industrial control field. Improving the level of information security of SCADA system is very important and urgent.Compared to conventional control systems, such as distributed control systems, the SCADA system has more monitoring and control points. The data communications between the SCADA site monitoring and control node and the control center becomes more scattered and more diverse and complex.It is also possible for a communication system to suffer from an attack.It constitutes a threat to the information security of the SCADA system. In this paper, I analyze the respective characteristics and the length of the key and the impact on the performance and efficiency of data transmission security the symmetric and asymmetric encryption algorithms,and put forward a typical symmetric encryption algorithms DES.And its research, and on its basis proposed and implemented a method using longer key improve anti-decipher ability of new ideas. In this paper, I designed a encryption device based on a low-power LPC1768ARM processor. According to the performance requirements of SCADA system security, the device uses DES encryption algorithm to achieve improved data secure transmission system in RTU mode, which provides a network interface, internal data storage interface. All of these meets the needs that current SCADA system for data acquisition, storage, processing, transmission. The system used a developed DES encryption that has an extended algorithm key to make the system data transferring more secure and reliable. After the actual testing on the designed development board, the encryption device design in this article can well meet the requirements of the secure transmission.
