UWB(Ultra-Wide Bandwidth) wireless communication system communicate with the signal which is a very short pulse and does not need carrier wave. It is also called Impulse Radio, Time Domain or Carrier Free communication. UWB have broad spectrum, low power, pulse data. This characteristics allows the interference which is caused by UWB signal less than the interference which is caused by traditional narrowband wireless. UWB also can provide good performance compared with wire communication in indoor environment. In this paper, first, we design and simulate a tapered UWB antenna; Second, we introduce the standard ultra-wideband channel model IEEE802.15.3a and use ray tracing method to model indoor narrow-band channel model, and try to expand the model to adapt to ultra-wideband system; Finally, the paper shows that the BERs (Bit Error Rates) of the Rake receivers using coherent combining method are compared with that without using this method in the finished indoor wireless communication system, and also compared the system BERs (Bit Error Rates) with different pulse numbers of each bit map under the situation of using the standard ultra-wideband channel model IEEE802.15.3a.The last numerical analysis results show that UWB Rake receiver with the coherent combining method used in pulse position modulation and repetition coding, can be effective in reducing the additive noise and enhance the signal strength of receiving end and can greatly reduce the ultra-wideband wireless communication system BER when is used the hard decision detection. Because we take full advantage of the repetitive coding redundancy information which is used to enhance signal judgment for the UWB system.
