Radar is a radio device for detecting, locating and tracking target. Compared with optical detector, radar has the advantages of all weather detection and detection distance due to the different propagation characteristics of optical wave and microwave in the air. Ultra-wideband radar had been proposed to solve the contradiction between the resolution and detection range. This dissertation mainly discusses multicarrier radar, analyze the ambiguity function of the radar. In exceptional circumstances that the initial phase of each signal is zero, the analytical expression is derived. Randomly distributed discrete spectrum signal is also been discussed. A simulation result of the ambiguity function of the two radar signals is given and compared.A multiplexer coherent RF signal source is designed for the multicarrier radar. Principle of the multiplexer coherent RF signal source is discussed. The signal source comprises a host computer module, the digital control module, the PLL module, the filter module, and an automatic gain control module. Specific circuit solutions are designed to achieve the above modules, and finally complete the welding and testing. Measurements are made for cable default location with the multiplexer coherent RF signal source, simulation and test results are shown. In the conclusion part, the research progeny is summed up, and several problems needed to be solved are pointed out.
