UWB technique has a fast development and wide variety applications of radar communications benefiting from its capability of anti-interference, low cost, high data rate and high efficiency of spectrum utilization. However, in UWB systems based on impulse radio frequency, the echo pulse is severely impacted by Doppler Effect resulted from relative velocity between detecting radar and target. Therefore the detecting and tracking result is not desirable. In that condition, this paper introduced a scheme of detecting and tracking moving target by removing the impact affected by Doppler Effect based on IR-UWB correlation receiver. This paper first introduces the historical background, research purpose of UWB technology and its characteristic and applications typically according to the present research direction combining the general receiver structure. And then, a method of accumulating impulse is proposed to improve the SNR of correlation receiver and its impact of detecting moving target is analyzed. Aiming at solving the problem of detecting moving target using the improving SNR method, a scheme of detecting and tracking moving target which works like PLL is proposed. The scheme is started with constantly detecting the correlation output value of echo pulse and reference pulse which determines the adjusting direction of reference pulse delay, and then a closed detecting loop is generated. The accumulated time shift caused by Doppler Effect is therefore offset and the detecting and tracking for moving target is successfully completed. Finally, the method described above is simulated in MATLAB by testing target with positive acceleration, negative acceleration and constant velocity respectively. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method is verified. At last, based on the author’s contribution in the study a module design in K band is described. This paper analyzes and simulates the impact results from Doppler Effect combining the traditional UWB receiver structure. The simulated result verifies the research content. It can be seen that this paper is valuable and has an application prospect in the UWB technology research area.
