Since the ultra-wide band (UWB) technology was brought up, it has been greatly developed and widely used for low power consumption, fine confidentiality, good penetration ability and spectrum compatibility. However, the Doppler Effect in UWB systems due to the relative velocity deteriorates the performance of UWB receivers. So this paper studies on how to detect and track the Doppler Effect in a UWB system.Firstly, a kind of UWB radar structure and its hardware design are presented. Based on this radar system, the accumulation of the UWB pulse and the Doppler Effect due to moving targets are researched. Then, a new method to detect and track the Doppler Effect in UWB systems is proposed. And this method can be applied in a Chaos UWB radar system. Its procedures are simulated and performance is analyzed. At last, a signal processing method of UWB life detection radar is proposed to avoid the life information loss and increase the frequency components of human life information. Thus, the periodic Doppler Effects can be detected in a different way. This paper introduces and researches the methods of detecting and tracking the Doppler Effects. And lots of simulation and experiment results have proved the research results. These results demonstrate that this paper has good research values and application prospects.
