With the development of computer & communication technology, information has been proven to be a kind of important resource in information age. Data communication based on serial ports takes a considerable place especially in the field of military, consequently its security attracts the public focus increasingly. To strengthen the information security, the relevant research on both theory and practice is of great importance.In this thesis, the security technologies of data communication based on serial ports are studied systematically. Firstly, some key technologies correlated with security are discussed in detail, such as data interception, data encryption, key management, etc. Secondly, having studied the model of the current data communication system based on serial ports and the kernel framework of windows 2000 operation system, the desirable 'point' to establish the framework of security system is found out, and the framework of security system is presented to intercept and process data of serial communication through filter driver. Finally, the realization of the filter driver and the complete message processing are analyzed and studied in more detail. The influence on data communication system based on serial ports after the security technology is adopted is analyzed through a series of simulations.
