Along with the development of USB interface technique, the USB equipment more and more comes into our daily life and the scientific research work, and has brought very much convenience to the people. The USB interface technique has a promising future development, and developing USB equipment which can be used on the theodolite, is also necessary.This article took designing the driver of the USB data communication verification device as the main goal, elaborated the USB interface technique theory, the structure of Windows 2000 operating system, the basic theory of driver designing, the design and the installment of driver as well as the design of application program. First, the structure of USB bus system, the USB2.0 protocol, the basic theory as well as the development flow of USB equipment were introduced.Second, the design thought and the structure of the Windows 2000 operating system were introduced, the WDM equipment driver structure as well as the main routine it contains was briefly presented, and the USB WDM driver system structure and the USB driver work flow were introduced.Next, constructing environment of driver development with Driver Studio in Windows 2000 was narrated, and the achievement of several important routines, which were programmed in the USB data communication verification device driver with the DDK tool, was in detail introduced.And then, the INF document, which is needed when WDM driver is installed, and the achievement of application program of USB data communication verification device were in detail explained.Finally, the data communication verification device function was tested, and the simple analysis was carried on.
