Space traveling wave tubes (TWT) are critical devices in space applications, such as communication satellites, aerospace crafts, and remote sensing systems, where are used as RF power amplifier. Due to the extremely rigorous environment in the space, efficiency is always one of the specifications in space traveling wave tubes. The multistage depressed collector (MDC) is used for improving the efficiency. The BKOBRA was modified for the3-D simulation of multistage depressed collectors for high efficiency space traveling wave tubes. This package was evaluated by some bench mark tests. An asymmetric collector was simulated using this package and the results were compared with data. The input and output interface package of BKOBRA, was modified to make it more user-friendly.An algorithm was developed to investigate the effect of electrode potentials on the performance of the MDC. This algorithm can also be used to investigate the efficiency of the collector for different drive levels (for different spent beam curves). In this paper, it is discuses on how to obtain the initial conditions of MDC. Three kinds of symmetric collector with4stages was simulated using this condition and the results were compared with experimental data.
