| Homosexual is a special community which existed since ancient times. As Chinese society has undergone tremendous change in recent years, the homosexual began to appear in the public view frequently. Against such a background, more and more related issues of homosexual become increasingly vulnerable to media attention. In consideration of the significant influence on the public perception that given by net media news coverage, the research of the net media reports of the homosexual and the reappearance of homosexuals are of great significance.This study uses content analysis, combines framework analysis, stereotype, pseudo-environment and some other important theories to inspect the general situation of the homosexual reports on the Sina news channel from2000to2011and the recent situation of homosexual-themed reports on the Sina news channel, to judge if Sina news channel is objective and fair in reporting homosexuals.The results of this study show the change of the reports of homosexual from2000to2011and there are some bad tendencies and some structure problems on the recent homosexual-themed reports. Meanwhile, there are also some bad tendencies on reappearing the image of homosexuals, such as stereotype and the sex imbalance.Finally, this study discusses the influence on the reports and the image of homosexuals of Sina news channel given by the mainstream values, the demand for commercial operation of the media and the inherent concepts of the journalists or the media. Then offer some positive and reasonable advices to journalistic work through these discussions. |
