In the current rapid development of tourism, travel websites have provided vast amounts of information and convenient booking and enquiry services for the public. Tourist attractions promotion has become an indispensable element of travel sites, so the planning method of tourism promotion is the key to strive for the audience hits. According to the classification of travel sites by academic circles, the portal’s travel channels are regarded as non-professional sites, therefore are less competitive than professional travel websites. Through the study of Sina travel channel, the author finds that Sina travel channel has its own distinctive positioning and characteristics both in form and content which are different from professional travel websites.By means of specific research on three quarters’5381 titles (with repetition) in the two core sections of theme planning and domestic travel from 2008 to 2010 , this thesis analyses the features of its layout and column content and the characteristics of its tourist attractions promotion. The author focuses on its characteristics from the news, tourism planning and thematic perspectives and points out its clever combination of static tourism resources with dynamic hot news and its novel planning mode of using news events to promote tourist attractions, which is also the innovation of this thesis. many travel sites promote the tourist attractions only in accordance with the geographical area and by means of a brief introduction of them, which is short of new ideas. Therefore how to make the columns, contents and tourism promotion more original is the key to attract the audience. In addition, the author sums up ten kinds of typical and regular planning mode of tourism promotion which are different from those of other professional travel websites.The author sincerely hopes that the conclusions of this thesis can serve as a reference for the development of other travel websites.
