| Firstly, fierce competition in smart phone market lead to the derivation fromuser-friendly operation interface design: the loss caused by excess virtual operations, thepuzzling interaction techniques, the variable operating method, the shorter life-cycle.Secondly, on one hand, as intermediate users occupy a large proportion of regular users, theirpreferences and selection directly determines whether a brand or product can be successfullydeveloped; on the other hand, due to lack of relevant knowledge and experience, primaryusers--the major source of intermediate users, when they face the intelligent mobile phonesystem interface which does not fit their mental model, will suffer from great pressure andencounter a lot of difficulties to operate, which will in turn make them give up the use ofintelligent mobile phone. In the long run, the expansion of intermediate users will be resistedand intelligent mobile phone may face the awkward future of lack of users.To address this problem, this paper proposed a definition of design scale in smart phoneuser interface, facing with the need of intermediate user, to aim the fundamental user growinto a intermediate user easier and faster. This effort would enhance the user viscosity andfame of the brands. The concept "design scale" involving in this paper is consisted of differentscale in users’ need and different scales in interface elements. Thus, based on the varies ofcognitive dimension, we need to balance the simplicity and application, in perceptualcognitive level, interaction level and visual level of smart phone interface.In this paper, we take the example of Android smart phone, establish the mind model ofintermediate user through questionnaire, sensory evaluation, user tasks test. By investigating,experimenting, analyzing, a perceptual tag library and an interface element library forintermediate user are presented in this paper, and eventually results in design scale inperceptual cognitive level, interaction level and visual level of smart phone interface forintermediate user, and bring the research result into practice for testing. |
