Multi-arc ion plating is a new coating technology which based onvacuum arc and ion plating. In recent years, with the improvement of thetechnology, it has been used widely in metallurgy, machinery processing,high temperature protection, decoration materials and many otherindustries. It has many advantages, such as high ionizability, wonderfulscattering effect, dense layer, and strong adhesive power.Multi-arc ion plating is a complex industrial process. Many factorsshould be considered. It has the characteristics of nonlinear, time-varying,and asymmetry. It cannot be described as a precise mathematical model,so the traditional control method is difficult to meet the controlrequirements.This paper mainly analyses the substrate temperature, gas flow rate,target current and several other influence coating quality parameters. Themathematical model of temperature control object was also annlized, andthe a new fuzzy adaptive PID method based on particle swarm was givenaccording to the characteristics of the vacuum chamber temperature.Firstly,use Z-N method to set four groups of PID parameters, then use theParticle Swarm arithmetic to optimize the PID parameters. Finally, itcombines with fuzzy control, and forms a new intelligent control schemeto make the controller have the advantages of PID control highsteady-state accuracy and fuzzy control good robust. Simulation resultsshow that this control scheme is simple, effective and meeting the controlrequirement.After analyzing the multi-arc ion plating gas flow system,introduce a double closed-loop control system. Useing PI controller as theprimary loop controller to control N2flow,and useing PID controller asthe sub-loop controller to control Ar flow.Finally, according to the characteristics of multi-arc ion plating,design the production process control system. For example PLC selection,hardware configuration, fuzzy control program,and useing MCGS software to design the monitor screen.
