With the modern industrial process control systems becoming larger and more complicated, performance requirements to the control system are becoming stricter. In this background, the research on fuzzy control has been developed a lot. And the fuzzy control does not rely on the mathematical model of the controlled object, its robustness is well, so its application field is more and more widely. However, with the increasing of fuzzy control application, its shortcoming has been exposed. Such as limited rules, low precision etc. Therefore, the optimization of fuzzy control has became a research direction. The paper proposed a variable universe fuzzy control based on particle swarm optimization algorithm, the control strategy can effectively overcome these defect.First, the paper introduced the research status of fuzzy control and particle swarm optimization algorithm(PSO), as well as their significance. And the paper discussed the latest theory achievements and future development direction.Then, the paper described the theoretical basis of the variable universe fuzzy control——the interpolation principle of fuzzy control, then monotonicity of fuzzy rules and control function. Based on the variable universe fuzzy control, proposed the variable universe fuzzy control based on particle swarm optimization strategy. The proposed strategy can further improve the control quality of the variable universe fuzzy control. After described the principle of the algorithm and the algorithm realization and analysed the characteristic of contraction and expansion factors, the paper carried out the simulation experiments. By compared with simulation result of the fuzzy control and the variable universe fuzzy control shows the proposed control strategy has better control quality.At last, the paper established the liquid-level control system with the MeO93395-H1sensor training platform. And the liquid-level control system used the variable universe fuzzy control based on particle swarm optimization strategy, the result shows the control strategy has the potentiality to be applied to industrial control systems.
