| Disaster could be a serious threat to our society although modern technology is highlydeveloped. Disasters have been heard almost everywhere since we stepped into the21stcentury. Therefore, disaster news grows in importance. On the other hand, as newscommentary is one of the three main news styles in modern newspaper, disaster newscommentary without doubt owns a significant position during disasters when it appears as oneof the most efficient and powerful news styles to appease the public and guide public opinion.Domestic disaster news commentary has been largely improved in efficiency, flexibility anddegree of freedom. However, disaster commentary still hasn’t achieved significant impactworld-wide, not as influential as American disaster commentary when it should be for we aretrying to improve our international standing position. This paper tries to find out the maindifferences between disaster commentary of Chinese and American mainstream newspapersand the reasons behind them while the paper aims at contributing even just a bit to how toimprove domestic disaster commentary. |
