Visualization in Scientific Computing (VISC) is a technique that makes the discrete calculated results from scientific computing into a continuous graphic or image using Computer Graphics (CG) and Image Processing techniques, which let the relevant technical personnel can directly observe and analyze the state and the variation of system. Therefore, in-depth researching VISC has fundamental significance in the application of data processing of scientific computing and analysis field.The visualization algorithm and applications of scalar field, vector field and tensor field are mainly researched based on summarizing the existed technologies of visualization in scientific computing, combining with thermal-solid coupling finite-element analysis data. Firstly, the used basic grids dates structure and interpolate algorithm of date preprocessing are introduced. Then, the implementation and applications of the visualization algorithm in the scalar, vector and tensor field are described.In the technology of scalar field visualization, contour generation algorithm such as Cell Sequence and Contour sequence, the contouring fast filled method based on the OpenGL graphic primitive, and the filled method based on the pixel are represented in details in the article. In the aspect of vector field visualization, the article mainly aimed at two research directions:vector field visualization based on geometry and the texture. The algorithms of arrows plot and the colored streamlines are implemented. In addition, the LIC algorithm based on texture is improved and broadened, which make up the deficiency of LIC. After that the ellipsoid algorithm is introduced which is mainly used in tensor field visualizationAt last, the article describes the excogitation and implementation scientific visualization system and functions of each module, from the view of practical application.After practice, the visualization system makes accurate results, meeting demand of finite-element analysis. This system that is packaged has applied to "Thermal-solid coupling finite-element analysis system" and achieved good practical results.
