Visualization in Scientific Computing(ViSC) is mainly interest in transforming data and computing result extracted from science computing to graphic or/and image for convenienting to display in screen by adopting computer graphics,image processing and inter-processing technology,It is a theory,a method,and also a technology.It is a important research direction of computer science and attract more and more attention.Vector field visualization is a important part of ViSC. feature visualization and topology visualization are two important research directions for vector field currently. feature visualization mainly conern searching and extracting the feature having special significance for flow field or the area user interested. It can achieve key visualization for feature.feature visualization will filter many non-essential data,it can improve efficiency of visualization operation and moreover hold the critical information.A important part of feature visualization is critical point search and classification.Topology visualization can grasp global field structure,it refer to critical point searching and streamline drawing. This paper addresses the summary and comparison for the current development of 2D vector field visualization,implement the topology-dri-ven streamline placement algorithms,design and realization a 2D vector field visualization system using MFC.This paper focuses on the following aspects:1.Analyze current situation of the 2D vector field visualization technology development,discuss direct-visualization, geometry visualizat-ion, texture visualization,feature visualization and topology visualization techonologys, design a critical point searching algorithm by adopting solve Bilinear Interpolation equations.2.Research the main streamline placement algorithms,and compare topology-driven streamline placement algorithm with other streamline placement algorithms in efficiency and effect.3.Design and realize a 2D vector field visualization system,define a format for data file,design and implement arrow drawing algorithms,imp-lement streamline drawing,critical point classifying, vector field topology drawing,gray lic,color lic algorithms,all these algorithms are integrate in a system for easy to compare.
