The paper describes the development and current situation of laser radar and activeimaging laser radar in detailed, and demonstrate the possibility of the mini imaginglaser radar project. Due to current miniaturization application background, the projectapply semiconductor laser as source of light and ICCD as the detector of the project,also range slice imaging technology has been applied in this project. Computer works asthe center of the control system, Synchronous controller provide working schedule forlaser driver and ICCD, and decide when the shutter of ICCD will be opened in terms ofthe range of target. This design makes it possible to let the special reflected lightdetected by ICCD. The compound video digital form ICCD will be processed incomputer through the interface of Imaging Acquisition Card.Based on this designation, an active imaging laser radar system has been build inorder to study the technology. The system is a Range Gated Imaging System with activepulsed laser illuminating and CCD array (due to cost limitation). The relationshipbetween pulse width and brightness of image has been studied based on thisexperimental system. And anti-jamming performance of the system also has beenstudied. Experiments have been conducted indoors and outdoors,2-D image of targetcan be obtained.
