With the rapid development of computer technology, software has been widelyapplied to every corner of the society, the software reliability problem gets attentionincreasingly, from nineteen sixties to now, there are hundreds of software reliabilitymodels presented successively, and applied to the software reliability evaluation andprediction. However, in order to facilitate the mathematical description, someassumptions of the model are too simple or even unreasonable, which limits the scopeof application of the model, prediction objectivity and accuracy. Therefore, this paperproposes more reasonable assumptions and establishes a model considering two typesof correlated failures.This article summarizes the basic theory of software reliability, softwarereliability model, and introduces mathematical knowledge when analysis the softwarereliability, then studies several classic software reliability models, including basichypothesis of all the model, formula and parameter estimation. Based on thoroughresearch of the classical model, with model assumptions as the breakthrough point, itanalyzes the traditional limitations of the model, absorbs excellent characteristics ofthe G-O model, and in accordance with the actual situation, taking into account thesoftware fault correlation, put forward more reasonable hypothesis, build a softwarereliability model considering two types of correlated failures. Finally, make simulationfor the proposed model and the G-O simulation model on the MATLAB platform, theresult shows that the proposed model to test the software failure data fitting is betterand has a stronger predictive ability, which proves that this model has practicalmeaning for engineering.
