With the wide application of embedded system, it becomes more and morecomplex, which results in the severe “software crisis”. Model driven structuretechnology is an important research direction, and can effectually release the press of“software crisis”. However, owing to the real–time of embedded software, collaborativedevelopment of software and hardware, and platform correlation, it is hard to achievethe embedded software development simply by using MDA measure.UML element model has been analyzed to show some closely combined aspectsbetween embedded software design and UML. Through in-depth analysis, the obstaclesof the integration of UML and embedded software could be found, and a solution aimedat the obstacles and based on UML Profile extension mechanism has been proposed.According to this solution, Profile modeling tool for embedded software has beendesigned, and the implementation method of Profile extended module has been pointedby using Eclipse plug-in design.Profile modeling tool for embedded software could resolve the obstacles ofmodeling problems during the embedded software design by using UML. It could alsoimplement the graphic modeling by using the graphics editing features of tools, andcarry out extensible modeling aim at the features of embedded software.
