Estimating the frequency from the signal corrupted by noise is an important subjectin signal processing. Frequency estimation has been applied in radar, sonar, navigation,EW, electric industry, biological medical, remote sensing technology and so on. Lots ofalgorithms have been proposed to estimate signal frequency at home and abroad, andsome of them have been applied in practical, which is accelerating the development ofscience technology. For signal detection in electronic warfare, this paper mainly studiescarrier frequency estimation of DS-SS.First of all, this paper introduces adaptive frequency estimation algorithm. Itincludes the frequency estimation based on phase difference, based on linear predictionand some iterative algorithms. In this paper, these algorithms are compared in theiradvantages and disadvantages, at the meantime, the performance of the algorithms arealso analyzed in different noisy background. Second, this paper introduces the conceptsof cyclic spectrum and higher-order cumulants, and the common methods calculatingcyclic spectrum are given, furthermore, the second order cyclic spectrum andhigher-order statistics of direct spread spectrum signal are analyzed elaborately. Then,the carrier frequency of direct spread spectrum signal is estimated with these twomethods. At last, the summary and forecast are given.
