Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation has important applications in satellitecommunication, mobile communication, radar, information warfare, radio astronomy,navigation, sonar and seismology etc, it has aroused great research interest in academics.For several problems existed in DOA estimation in satellite communication system, thispaper will analyze and simulate the DOA estimation algorithm taking system signals inthe satellite communication system as the measured signal.For the narrowband relevant signal, according to the spatial smoothingde-correlative method, the paper achieves the DOA estimation of coherent signals. Forthe defects of spatial smoothing method required the sacrifice of array aperture toimprove estimation accuracy and resolution, the paper studies an improved MUSICalgorithm. With high estimation accuracy, the algorithm is simple and robust.Finally, for the DOA estimation demand of wide-band multi-mode widebandnavigation channel signals, the paper studies an improved ISM algorithm by combiningwith the ISM algorithm and improved MUSIC algorithm. The algorithm overcomes thedefects that the coherent signal cannot be estimated by the ISM algorithm, achieves theDOA estimation of broadband coherent signals. And compared with the CSM algorithm,this improved algorithm does not require the angle pre-estimation and the constructionof focus matrix, thus eliminates those factors influence on the DOA estimation results.And compared with the broadband signal direct processing algorithm, the algorithmdoes not increase the correlation matrix dimension of the array observed signal, there isno sacrifice of array aperture, it is a simple algorithm with high DOA estimationaccuracy and strong resolution.
