With the deployment of communication technologies and the appearance of newbusinesses, new features are coming forth. On one hand, the traditional users whichwish to use mobile services of broadband access anywhere are not satisfied with usingfix broadband access just at home or in office. On the other hand, the traditional usersare not satisfied with low-speed data services such as simple voice, text messaging andso on. The broadband becomes one of the key tendencies for the current development ofthe wireless communication. As the stand of mobile broadband wireless metropolitanarea network technology, IEEE802.16e has achieved significant progress.According to IEEE802.16e protocol standard, we design and implement thenetwork control subsystem of the MAC layer of the WiMAX Base Station. Chapter1introduces the research background of WiMAX and IEEE802.16protocolstandardization. Chapter2analyzes the network architecture and medial access controllayer of the WiMAX Base Station. Chapter3describes the hardware platform as well asthe operating system of the MAC layer and discusses the overall structure of thesoftware. As the focus of this article, Chapter4elaborats the design of the control planeand the data plane of the MAC layer. At the same time, it also designs the key steps ofthe initial network access and the switching network access. Chapter5integrates thefunctional modules and the project platform to a whole base station system, and then ittests the connection between the terminal and the base station. The result reveals thatthe terminal can access the base station successfully.
