Imaging-guided tracking as an important research area of precision-guidedcombines image processing, pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, automaticcontrol, computer and many other areas of advanced technology. It has manyadvantages, such as concealment, anti-electromagnetic interference ability and well costperformance. In depth analysis of the development of real-time imaging tracking system basedon the status and trends, aiming to improve the real-time ability and precision, areal-time imaging tracking system software and hardware platform based on two-classtemplate matching correlation tracking algorithm is designed. The platform is designedto implement precision tracking algorithms and track objects of complex groundsituation. Firstly, the paper makes a deep analysis to several classic target recognitionalgorithms, according to their merits and faults, the two-class template matching methodbased on similarity sequence detection algorithm is chosen as the core algorithm of theimaging tracking system. In order to verify its validity, the paper gives the computersimulation results of the proposed algorithm. Secondly, according to signal processing, the paper gives the various stages of implementation of data processing. Combiningwith the system requirements and tracking algorithm processes, a hardware platformwhich performs the data processing, such as image sequence acquisition and control, target acquisition and tracking is designed with Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)as the core of data processing. Finally, based on field test at different ground situation, the tracking performance of the system is verified and analyzed, from the aspect ofanti-interference ability, tracking accuracy, stability and real-time ability. The resultshows that specifications of the system satisfies the project requirements with advancedcharacteristic and universality.
