Multi-CCD color scanner of large format has universal applications in the fields ofcolor printing, advertising, cartography, military domain and other fields. A higherrequirement of technology is needed in the development of Multi-CCD scanner systemfor its large-format, high-precision demands. This paper deals mainly with the designand implementation of the upper software for high-resolution color scanner with fiveCCD inA0-format.Based on the analysis of the working principles of Muti-CCD color scanner, thestructure of the function modules for the upper driver is designed; as well an overallscheme for the upper scanner driver is presented. Through the control procedure of theUSB2.0interface, programming design of command transfer protocol and theimplementation of TWAIN image transfer interface, an on-line control system isimplemented for the scanner; a concurrent operation system of high speed datatransmission, real-time display and file storage is implemented based on the multithreadprogramming; after analyzing the working principle of linear CCD, a color calibrationalgorithm for the CCD is designed, as well a image stitch algorithm and a imageenhancement algorithm for the scanning data is presented to ensure the accuratescanning process; Finally the upper driver of scanner is implemented by integratingvarious control systems. The results achieved in this paper have already applied to thelarge-format color scanner with high-speed and high-precision for the military.
