Along with the rapid development of network technology, it has becomeincreasingly prominent to information security issues. As an effective means of secretcommunication and copyright protection, information hiding technology become a newhot research topic in the field of information security rapidly. Due to its distinctiveness, text data hold an important position in people’s daily life. For this reason, the researchof text information hiding technology has more profound realistic significance. Thispaper is mainly about a new technique of text information hiding based on naturallanguage processing techniques, it includes the following contents:Firstly, the paper introduces the current situation of information hiding research, followed with the definition of information hiding, the common model, fundamentalfactors etc. The paper also analyzed and compared several text-based information hidingmethods.Secondly, this paper proposes a steganographic algorithm based on synonymysubstitution for Chinese text. The paper discusses the construction of thesaurus, thesynonyms phrase coding algorithm, and embedding and extracting process. Using thishidden method, we designed a secret communication scheme under the background ofinstant messaging. This scheme considers text information hiding problem as a digitalcommunication model. It solved the synchronous and checking problem of the hiddenchannel effectively through embedding secret messages into IM dialogue with units offrame.Lastly, this paper design and implemented a secret communication system withpseudo-client architecture, and has carried on the analysis to the performance of thealgorithm. The secret communication scheme based on synonymy substitution isconfirmed that it has the better concealment, robustness, security effects and channelcapacity. This secret communication system is an effective attempt for the application ofnatural language information hiding theory.
