Along with the rapid popularization of Internet and the fast development of thenetwork construction at universities, the problem of the network security has becomeday by day prominent. Serving as the information management platform of colleges anduniversities, campus network plays a very important role in the university faculty andstudents’ work, study, life and entertainment. How to ensure the safety of the data andsystem in open network environment has already been an increasingly concerned andnecessarily urgent problem.This paper makes a thorough and systematic introduction of the concept ofnetwork security, network security technology and campus network securitymanagement system, and has a detailed discussion of varieties of security threats thecomputer network confronted with. It clearly illustrates the firewall, intrusion detectionsystems, virtual private network and other network security technologies and strategeticprinciples and implementation means. applying the above research, the paper makes adeep research and development specific to the needs of the campus network securitysystem in Shaanxi Xianyang Normal University. The research achievements are toconstruct the security system structure which is suitable for the university campusnetwork, improve the campus network topology, detail the VLAN division, andintroduce a VPN technology and a series of measures which enable office network toachieve great application with maximum efficiency.In summary, through implementation of this project, accelerate the pace ofinformation technology of xianyang normal college, improve the efficiency of theCollege administrative office, and achieve the desired results.
