With the development of mobile computing, live mobile learning hasbeen more and more popular. It takes advanteages of mobile computing,such as mobility, portability and pervasiveness. It also could provide waysfor the users to interact with lectures thus impove the learning experienceand performace.This paper designs and develops a multi-OS mobile leaning platform.The teacher application sends three media streams (lecturer’s video, PCscreen, and lecturer’s voice) to data server, and then the student applicationuses HTTP Streaming to request data from server. In this way, students candownload course or tune in the live lecture on demand. At the same time,the platform provides ways for the users to interact with the lecture inrealtime with XMPP protocol.The platform also provides intelligentanswering function for the students to submit questions and to receiveauto-matched answers. The OSes supported by the platform includeWindows NT and Mac OS at lecture side, and iOS, Android and Flashtechonology at student side.Finally, research is conducted on how to reduce the the broadcastinglatency and on how to get the latest media data. Experiments show that thesolution of latency reduction and timeliness improvement introduced inthis paper is very effective.
