Aiming at the problems on current bridge load inspection,which has disadvantages of amass of wire cables used,long cycle,mutual interference produced easily and detecting thelarge-span bridges with difficulty. This paper presents a bridge load inspection system whichis based on Wireless Sensor Networks. In this system, sensor nodes transfer the inspectingdata through the wirless way to PC, which reduce the use of wire cables,shorten the inspectingcycle, improve the signal of the anti-interference ability and is very suitable for inspectinglarge-span bridges.The paper firstly analysed the system requirement and combine the domestic researchand the foreign research on bridge load inspection system, then on the basis of actualrequirement, development costs, development cycle and technical feasibility, the systemstructure (including: Network topology structure, Hardware general structure, softwaregeneral structure) was designed. Hardware terminal node of bridge load inspection based ofWSN was developed, which realize the data inspecting and data wireless transmission.Meanwhile, in order to adapt to the needs of long-span bridge load inspection, on thebasis of contrasting to the existing variety of wireless sensor network routing algorithm,aiming at the bridge which is the particular test object, this paper proposed a wireless sensornetwork routing algorithm orienting bridge load inspection—Improved LEACH-C routingalgorithm, and it has accomplished the computer simulation for Zhou Liu Jing River Bridge.The experiment results show that the proposed algorithm is more reasonable for the selectionof cluster head, which can effectively lessen network energy consumption. Finally, the paperhas developed a host computer management software (including: field measure and controlsoftware, remote monitoring and management software). Among them, the field measure andcontrol software realizes the serial data receiving of Sink node, data analysis, datatransmission, node control and so on. Remote monitoring and management software isdesigned by the object-oriented system software design method which realizes the remotelocation of the bridge, three-dimensional display of the bridge, multi-view data display,reports of the generation and print, the wireless control of node.Model and simulation results show that the system could collect, transmit and display inspecting data of strain, deflection vibration frequency reliably, stably and accurately. Itcould laid the foundation of remote monitoring of bridge and bridge information managementfor the bridge inspection and quarantine departments.
