Automatic target recognition has been widely applied in many fields such as robotnavigation, intelligent traffic surveillance, driver aid and so on. In order to meet therequirement of different applications, ATR algorithms are also more and more abundant.Different processing algorithms often require different architectures, so it is so essential toestablish a common, flexible, scalable embedded software system for ATR. Because of thericher application, more and more people also pay attention to real-time operation system.There are many scholars and experts have been studied in these fields for many years, andmade great progress. Based on the research work of previous people, this paper studies thefollowing aspects:(1) According to the characteristics of automatic target recognition, we design andimplement a common operation system platform. This system can be cut to meet therequirements of different tasks based on the characteristics of the hardware system, andbecause of the structured design, the system has good scalability. Experiments show thatthis system can adapt to most tasks of automatic target recognition.(2) With the characteristics of real-time systems, we preliminary study and improvethe real-time property of Linux, and the improvements made the control system based onLinux on ARM side more satisfy the real-time need for automatic target recognition.(3) In order to use different processors to complete the tasks of automatic targetrecognition and make the modules low coupling, inter-processor communication moduleis an important part. According to the characteristics of automatic target recognition, wedesign and implement a simple functional and flexible processor communication modulefor the system. The modules on different processors can be combined to differentstructures, which ensure the overall system flexible.(4) Monitoring software design and implementation. Based on previous research, weimplemented multi-functional integrated software. The software monitors the hardwaresystem, and responds appropriately to abnormal situation, and assign different task todifferent processor according to the characteristics of the processors, which makes offlineanalysis and on-line load together.
